Education & Equality

A Voice for Women’s Issues

SJSWC is an equality seeking organization and as such speaks out publicly on a wide variety of issues that are of concern to women such as violence against women, sexual harassment, poverty, equal marriage, reproductive freedom and women's participation in the political process.

 

Community Outreach

We are also committed to education and give public presentations to a wide variety of community groups, government departments and educational institutions. To arrange for someone to come out and address your group please contact us.

 

Research and Policy Formulation

SJSWC is also engaged in research and policy work on issues impacting women. For the past several years, the focus has been women and housing in St. John’s and across the province. 

 

Marguerite’s Place

Our new initiative, Marguerite’s Place, has grown out of the needs identified in this research.  Marguerite’s Place will be the new home for the current Women’s Centre and SJSWC offices and programs, and will expand to include a range of housing supports including supportive housing units on-site.
